In 2014, the government decided to change the name of the West Bengal Health Scheme. So, the scheme was named “West Bengal Health for All Employees and Cashless Medical Treatment Scheme 2014’. What Is West Bengal Health Scheme 2024
Friends West Bengal Health Scheme was started back in 2008 in order to support people who need medical treatment. This scheme will offer health benefits to all government working employees, officers, and government pensioners. According to the scheme, the individual can get reimbursement for treatment costs in selected hospitals in the state. OPD treatment expenses for 15 diseases can also be reimbursed with the help of this scheme. The health scheme will include all the treatment of the beneficiaries under government Hospitals, State-aided hospitals, Local Body Hospitals, Private Hospitals and Diagnostic Centres. About 8 lakh have already received the benefits of the scheme and many people are still receiving treatment under the scheme. According to the updated scheme, now employees of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Forest Services (IFS), Indian Police Services (IPS), and to retired AIS officers can also receive healthcare facilities.

- West Bengal Health Scheme provides cashless indoor treatment facilities to the people.
- the residents can get cashless medical facilities up to Rs. 1 lakh per indoor treatment, but if the treatment cost is more than one lakh then the individual must pay the remaining cost to the health care organisation (HCO).
- Under the scheme, the individual is also allowed to take OPD treatment but it depends on the waiting period and terms and conditions.
- If the resident has taken treatment in non-empanelled hospitals, then also, he will get reimbursement for treatment expenses.
