The Navodaya Vidyalaya is co-educational and also residential schools that are fully financed by the Government of India. Although, they are run by an autonomous organization called the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Every year the vacant seats at the Navodaya Vidyalaya are filled for class 6th and class 9th through an all India educational examination. Only the students who excel in the examination are further admitted to the school.

Eligibility Criteria For Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission
To be eligible for the admissions in Navodaya Vidyalaya the student must follow the following eligibility criteria given below:-
For Class 9th-
- Only those candidates who are studying Class VIII during the Academic Session 2019-20 in one of the Govt./Govt. recognized schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning are eligible.
- Candidate appearing for the admission test must qualify/ pass Class VIII in the academic session 2019-20.
- A candidate seeking admission must be born between 01.05.2004 and 30.04.2008
- Candidate belonging to any of the castes is eligible for admissions.
- No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances.
For Class 6th-
- Only the candidates from the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission.
- A candidate seeking admission must not have been born before 01-05-2007 and after 30-04-2011
- A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class-V for the whole of the academic session 2019-20 in a Government/Government aided or other recognized schools.
- A candidate must successfully complete Class-V in the session 2019-20.
- A Candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class-V before 15th September 2019 is not eligible to apply.
- No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances.
