Delhi Free Wifi Scheme
In their earlier Manifesto of the elections, the Delhi government in power that is the Aam Aadmi Party promised that they will provide free internet facilities to the youth of Delhi but they were unable to deliver their promise anyhow. Now, they have come up with a free Wi-Fi scheme for all of the residents, and the announcement for this scheme was made on Wednesday 4th December 2019. Through the scheme, 15 GB of data per month will be provided to the youth of the city by implementing hotspots.

Important Dates of Delhi Free Wifi Scheme
The scheme will be finally launched on 16th December 2019. And on the 16th of December 2019 hundred hotspots will be inaugurated across Delhi city.
Objective Of The Delhi Free Wifi Scheme
As announced by the Chief Minister of Delhi Mr. Arvind Kejriwal said that the benefit of these hotspots will be availed by the education and health authorities of India. The hotspots will help the education and health facilities to overcome their problems. The hotspots will also make the facility of internet available to people who can’t afford to get one.
Implementation Of The Scheme
As mentioned above, the first hundred hotspots will be implemented on December 16th, 2019 as announced by the Chief Minister. Further, more hotspots will be inaugurated weekly and thus the scheme will be concluded in a period of 6 months. After implementing the first batch of hotspots another batch of the hotspot will be implemented in the area beyond the reach of the first batch. Each hotspot will be available for simultaneous usage by 150-200 persons. The entire network will handle around 22 lakh users at a time.
Location Of The Hotspots
Mister Arvind Kejriwal announced that there will be a total of 11000 hotspots that will be inaugurated across Delhi. Out of these 11000 Hotspots-
- 4,000 will be set up at bus stops
- 7,000 others will be located in markets, residential welfare associations, and other places in the city.

Specifications Of The Hotspots
These hotspots and Wi-Fi schemes will be based on a rental model that is the government will have to pay a monthly fee for the implementation and the working of each hotspot located around Delhi. Rupees hundred crores have been finalized for the implementation of this project. Also, each hotspot will provide Internet Services within a hundred meters radius as announced by the Chief Minister of Delhi. 1.5 GB of data will be provided to each customer using the hotspot daily.
Process To Connect To The Hotspots
To connect to your nearest hotspots as implemented by the government of Delhi, an app will be launched. Through the app, the users will have to upload their KYC (know your customer) details. After updating KYC, an OTP will be received to activate the wifi connection. Although each and every detail about the connection to the hotspots is not available yet, as soon as a detailed procedure for connecting the mobile phone to the hotspots is available we will inform you through this portal.
