The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2017. And since then it has been providing many benefits for the citizens of India. This very well known housing scheme was very vital welfare for the people and the citizens of India. And today under this article we will discuss with you the PMAY CSMC 48th meeting which was implemented for the discussion of providing more houses to the urban areas that came under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the year 2019 and 2020.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)
The Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana provided many benefits to the rural and urban people separately by giving them housing, financial and economical facilities. The objective of the PMAY scheme was to provide housing, sanitation and development facilities to all the people who are economically backward, apart from these people also the people who often find themselves out of their own homes, for example- Senior Citizens, Transgenders. The Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana was also aimed for women and also the SC and ST scheduled caste tribe people.
Benefits Provided Under PMAY
Many benefits were provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the year 2019 and 2020:-
- The first and foremost benefit of the PMAY scheme was to provide housing facilities both for the urban and rural populations.
- The PMAY was mainly for the economically backward people ie most of the benefits are given to the economically backward people.
- Different subsidies are also provided to the economically backward people and also the people who are below the poverty line.
Latest Update Regarding PMAY
In the recent 48th Meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) for the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). it is approved that construction of 2,31,532 houses with an overall investment of Rs 7,322 crores involving central assistance of Rs 3,473 crores will take place.
The houses will implement in different states. The name of the states are as follows:-
- Andhra Pradesh
- Assam
- Bihar
- Madhya Pradesh
- Nagaland
- Puducherry
- Uttar Pradesh
Number Of Houses Approved For Different States
As mentioned above in the 48th meeting about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana the cabinet which was approved for the meeting decided to implement the following number of houses in different states:-
- Andhra Pradesh- 1,24,624 houses,
- Assam- 16,002 houses
- Bihar- 15,049 houses
- Madhya Pradesh- 18,362 houses
- Nagaland- 3,238 houses
- Puducherry- 1,811 houses
- Uttar Pradesh- 52,446 houses
It is clearly mentioned in the official notification by the concerned authority that the Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh state has already achieved a hundred percent housing facilities.
Achievements So Far
As we all know that the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana was the most vital welfare of the Indian government till now. The PM Narendra Modi started this journey in 2017 by providing housing facilities to the people. The People who were living with no houses or those who were living in slums and till now many benefits are availed by the Indian citizen through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. More than 93 Lakh houses under PMAY has been constructed. Although the demand was of 1.12 crore houses. A total of 55 Lakh houses are grounded for construction of which construction of more than 28 Lakh houses is complete.
