Secc data 2021 i.e. The Socio-Economic and Caste Census was the census conducted in all the states and union territories to review the data of the country. It consists of the number of people under the category of scheduled caste and the number of people under the category of scheduled tribes. Originally the Socio-Economic and Caste Census took place in 2011 and was revealed on 3 July 2015 by the former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Now Soon Government will start to collect Secc data 2021.

Categories Under Secc Data 2021
Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2011 were conducted by the Registrar General of India. It has come out with 46, 73,034 categories of caste, sub-caste, synonyms, different surnames, gotras in the caste and clan names. This data was then sent to all the states in November to review and to preserve for future use. The provisional rural data of SECC 2011 shows Scheduled Castes at 18.46% (or 15.88 crore), Scheduled Tribes at 10.97% (9.27 crore).
Components of Secc data 2021
In 2011, SECC had 3 census components.
All the 3 components were conducted by three separate authorities, but with overall coordination of the Department of Rural Development in the Government of India.
The three components are as follows–
- Census in Rural Area was conducted by the Department of Rural Development.
- Census in Urban areas was under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.
- Caste Census was under the administrative control of Ministry of Home Affairs: Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.

New Secc Data For 2021
It is said that the new Socio-Economic and Caste Census will be concluded by the year 2021 and the census will surely take place soon (SECC Data 2021). Certain changes will take place during the new Socio-Economic and Caste Census which are yet to be discovered, but one major change which is going to happen in the new Socio-Economic and Caste census is that the actual list of OBC candidates will be included in the census of 2021. Although in the census of 2011 the OBC list was not included. A senior minister official has announced that the OBC category would also own a separate column in the new Secc data 2021.

There are many advantages of the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (Secc Data 2021).
- First and foremost, it helps us to look through our country’s perspective. It gives us an idea of the caste-based system which prevails in our country.
- Secondly, it gives the government a proper customized and personalized list to support or to suit the specific programs or schemes given by the government for the welfare of the people in our country.
Use Of Aadhar Card For Secc Data 2021
The Central Government now has announced that the Aadhar card will play a very important role in the Secc data 2021. They announced that the Aadhar card will use to identify beneficiaries under Socio-Economic and Caste Census Data.
The new Socio-Economic and Caste Census Data 2021 will contain the names of people as per their 12 digits unique biometric identification number or Aadhaar Card number.
The aim of Central Government for using the Aadhaar card to identify the beneficiaries is to prevent fraud and duplication of Aadhar Card that can take place. The frauds usually take place to loot the government and to exploit the poor people who are unaware of the schemes.
Parameters Under Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2021
To look for the people who are below poverty line certain parameters are set by the MORD so, that no discrimination or partiality should take place for including the people in the list.
The procedure to include the people on the list will be very transparent and trustworthy.
MoRD has set around 20 parameters.
The parameters include —
- Availability of a house
- A toilet
- An electricity connection
- A gas connection
- Education level
- Asset position
- Landholding etc.
All these parameters will help to assess people’s status.
Time Span For Secc 2021
The Central Government is said to soon launch a pilot project to know the Socio-Economic status of every household. The entire census will be completed and data should be released in three years for the Socio-Economic and Caste Census 2021. The home minister emphasized that improvements in design and technological interventions could be made to ensure that the census data is finalized within 3 years.
